Hey peoples, I got bored at work today so I set up clanfgi.au.com for us. clanfgi.au.com now goes to the wiki (I set the custom domain name in the wiki settings as well) and talk.clanfgi.au.com works for Auron's nifty dyndns ventrilo server. I can set up hosting if people can think of something to run. I was thinking we could run a phpBB forum at forum.clanfgi.au.com but then I thought we probably wouldn't use it much. I'm open to suggestions. I can also set up user@clanfgi.au.com email accounts (either as stand-alone POP accounts or as aliases that forward onto existing addresses) so let me know if anyone wants them. Nice work.

Attention noobs: I am going to be running a permanent ventrilo server on my linux box at home. I have also set up a clanfgi dyndns account so we dont have to screw around with asking people for current ip everytime we want to get our bf2 on. The account name for dyndns is clanfgi and the password to the account is the name of our family boat. The current host i have set is clanfgi.dyndns.org and my linux box updates the ip details every 6 hours. These are the details to use if anyone else wants to take over ventrilo serving duty. So now all you need to do is connect your venty to clanfgi.dyndns.org and we should be cooking. Also, anyone feel free to move this to the bf2 page once it has been up here long enough for everyone to have seen it.

EA announces BF2142 Veterans program. They'll reserve your BF2 name for BF2142 and give you a free promotion in game. Which is a bit of a crock 'cos it only takes 1 round to get that promotion apparently anyway, but still.

If we do this (and I don't see a reason why we shouldn't), we need to agree on a naming convention i.e. whether we put the {FGI} in the mane as before. I suggest we just use whatever clan tag system they have in the game and just register our names. Maybe shadow should do this first as his name is probably the most likely to be taken by another. Also, I will probably change my name for this one. I was thinking Citizen_Erased - what do you homies think?

Possibly. Bugger it, new page required. Oh and I like Citizen_Erased, good work Dimcam. But I'm shortening it to 'rased in speech, cause it's hell easier to say.
I agree with Tlring. It's a cool name, but it will be shortened in speach (not a bad thing). I don't mean to sound like a whinger but 'Auron' is actually quuite hard to say causally. :)
The story behind Auron is one not steeped in very much history at all. I used to go by Ronin until i started playing CSS a lot where there was someone else using Ronin on aussie servers. As that guy was a bit of a dick (well he was the only time i saw him in a game) i decided i needed a change. The character Auron from FFX is actually a ronin, so i thought that would do (and the fact that Auron is a complete dude in the game appealed to me too). The problem, of course, is that you have to be careful where you use it in console circles. I didnt want to use it as my xbox live nick as im sure some rabid xbox fanboys would have something to say against it. So in the end it is good to be able to change it to something more predjudice neutral :P. - Oh and i did reserve Citizen_Erased for use in 2142, so i'll be using their clan tag system like wanmoney does.

(Yes, the BF2 interfaces are made using Flash. Really. What's that I hear you say? Wouldn't it make them slow, clunky, and encourage bad programming practice? Sure, but it's worth it so they don't have to code their own button-click detection for the nice rectangular buttons.)

    Pazu:I only had mspaint so i couldn't rotate and the cartoon guitar was the only one google image search had that was already on an angle. Besides, cartton guitars are awesome.
